Is this a repo? It also seems to have holes drilled in it! but if this is an authentic piece, it it worth the forty dollars the seller is asking?

I do not specialize in EK's but from these photos it appears to be an original EK II to me. I would say that someone period removed the jump ring and drilled the holes so that it could sewn to the tunic and worn as an EK I.
Is it worth the $40.00? Depends on how much you want it.

myself around.
it original but with four holes in do you really want it ?? it comes down to the fact spend 40 and get this (junk) or save the 40 and put it with 40 or 50 more dollars and get a half decent piece not the best just a sold ww2 ek2 !!
Unless it's $10 and you can make something cool out of it, pass...
Forty dollars is a joke. It is a ruined EK2, perfectly original as everyone has said but completely ruined.
I think the seller is living in a fantasy world. Save your money and put it towards something better.
Looking for LDO marked EK2s and items relating to U-406.....
I like it. Maybe not $40 like it but I still like it.
I know you TR guys are always looking for mint, shiney
crosses but there is something to be said for crosses
that show their history. As a matter of fact, I have a
similar 1914 cross on it's way to me right now.
Here are a couple of mine that I would like to have
give up there secrets-------

Yeah perhaps 10 bucks tops. Ruined an EK.
That would be one baddass biker jacket with an EK sewn to it!
I like it and as long as the history speaks to you (post war messing with and all) then try and bargain the price down. $10 might not get too far with the seller but $20-25 might and for that price you can't go too far wrong IMO.
