Possible dumb question, but is there an easy way to differentiate makers for those of us new to collecting? Are certain stamped #'s better than others, other than trying to get one of each (!).
There's no easy way Simon. Just time, experience, research and asking questions.
I like a nice marked "65" Klein & Quenzer. The details look very sharp and I think they really pop out at you. This is my rather excellent, cased "65" EKI.

My favourite are the Godet/Zimmermann, the Deschler, the wideframe 24, the 127.
I agree with the 127 Fabri, not often exalted
