Here's a document set to the winner of the Honor goblet. I picked this lot up a few years ago and have had it tucked away ever since. Its a lovely group to the one man, such a shame his medals had gone by the time I got it.
Just out of curiosity what do you think the value of a set like this is worth today.... it's not for sale but I would like to know your thoughts just so my insurance value can be updated if needed. Like most of my collection, there's a value I tell my wife and its real value...she'd just convert it into shoes and handbags.
I look forward to hearing what you think, and if anyone has info on the man himself that would be great.
I hope you enjoy seeing this lot, if you want to see more then look at Home
I am still looking to buy soldbuch, wehrpass and photo albums from German soldiers who were stationed in the Channel Islands, Jersey, Guernsey, Alderney, Sark, Herm. If you have anything that would be of interest please email me at damienhorn1@gmail.com
Very nice set indeed. As to a value, such things are very subjective and will vary from person to person but I'd say at least £1750 and probably over £2000 (I am assuming that the actual Ehrenpokal isn't part of the group).
The signature on Line 3 of Page 3 (and again on Page 22 for the Bomber Clasp In Gold entry) is that of Knights Cross winner Wolf-Joachim Jödicke who went on to command I./KG 3 from Nov 1942 to Apr 1944. He won the RK on the 5th Feb 1944 (while commanding I Gruppe) and he also won the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold on 13th Jan 1942 while Staffelkapitän of 9(Eis)./KG 3.
During the war in Russia 9 Staffel was organised as a specialist anti-train unit, tasked with attacks on the railways and rail traffic behind Russian lines.
Very nice grouping , Kevins price seems right in the zone for this , all i could find is
Karl Schubert DEUTSCHES KREUZ IN GOLD

Unit: 9.(Eis)/Kampf-Geschwader 3
Awarded on: October 27th, 1942
But you knew that already !!!
cheers
Paul
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
In that case add a few thousand on to the estimate. I don't collect such things as Ehrenpokals but I think they usually fetch around £3000 just by themselves.
