Need Help!! Translation of Wehrpass To Obergefreiten Zumb?

Hi Chaps, I'm really struggling with this one, even with the basic details on page 3!! I'm not even sure his name is Zumb Anyway, I'd be very grateful for any info that can be added to the below, particularly page 3, his units on page 12, where he served pages 32/33 & the places he was during Operation Citadel on page 34 : -

Wehrpass belonging to Infantry Corporal ??Zumb?? who served on the Russian Front and was assigned to Sturm-Regiment 195?? and killed during the Battle for Kursk in July 1943.
On 7th July 1943 Cpl Zumb is documented on page 34 as receiving a bauchschuss,(shot to the stomach) in ??? while fighting on the Northern sector of the Kursk salient in ??? southeast of Orel, Russia. He died (gestorben) the following day, 8th July 1943, in field hospital? 178 in ???
Page 32 and Page 33 shows this soldier had previously served in France. On 22 June 1941 he crossed the Russian Border and participated in numerous battles leading up to and including the Russian counter offensive before Moscow on 5 December 1941.
Page 23 shows the award of the East Medal (Russian Front Medal) 1941/42 on 5 August 1942
Page 22 shows promotions to Gefreiten and Obergefreiten

His name was Karl Ernst Zeeb (not Zumb).

He was born at Roßwälden in the Kirchheim/Teck district of Baden-Württemberg; his parents were the railway worker Karl Zeeb (died in 1920) and Frida Zeeb (died 1935).

Mr. Zeeb, who was unmarried and of Protestant faith, was a farmer by civilian trade. This might have played a role in his military occpational specialty: The Army trained him as a rider and as a driver of horse-drawn vehicles and later as a dispatch rider.

The fatal injury to his stomach was not a gunshot wound, but by shrapnel. ["Gr.Spl." = "Granatsplitter"]

Wounded at Grotasowo on 7 July 1943, Mr. Zeeb died one day later some 10 kilometers north of Grotasowo at Glasunowka (southeast of Orel), which is where we was buried as well.

His unit assignments were as follows:

• 29 Aug. 1939 - 27. Jan. 1940: Infanterie-Geschütz-Ersatz Kompanie / 78 [Infantry Gun Replacement Company of Infantry Replacement Regiment 78]
• 28 Jan. 1940 - 7 Jan. 1943: 13. (Infanterie-Geschütz) Kompanie Infanterie-Regiment 195 [13th (Infantry Gun) Company of Infantry Regiment 195]
• 8 Jan. 1943 - 31 May 1943: 5. (schwere) Kompanie Sturm Regiment 195 [5th (Heavy) Company of Assault Regiment 195]
• 1 June 1943 - 30 June 1943: 9. (schwere) Kompanie Sturm Regiment 195 [9th (Heavy) Company of Assault Regiment 195]
• 1 July 1943 - 8 July 1943: 8. (schwere) Kompanie Sturm Regiment 195 [8th (Heavy) Company of Assault Regiment 195]

At the time of this soldiers death his Regimental Commander was Walter Hollaender who was abit of a rarity in the German armed forces as he was half Jewish! He won the Knights Cross on 18th July 1943.
Sturm Rgt 195 was part of 78 Sturm Division at this time.

Interesting stuff. He was classified as a 1st degree Mischling & got the German Blood Certificate. Nutty racial rules!! Hitler couldn't have been too bothered about him being half-Jewish as he was certainly highly decorated. I wonder if all his family members survived the Holocaust?

He was highly decorated but he was never promoted beyond Oberst and into the 'General' ranks so someone somewhere didn't think it wise to push his luck too much.

Yeah, better to stay in the field than get promoted & have to mix with higher political types!!
