It's an interesting book, in any case. The man was born in Nuremberg and somehow ended up in the 4th SS Polizei and in a Horse troop named "The Estonia Kommando". I wonder how he got in the hospital-wounded? The Polizei Did have a number of small mounted horse units, but I've never heard of one being named the Estland"! It would be a good book to pick up if you haven't already done so! Lots of potential for researching there.

Whilst the Polizei Divison and other units of the Waffen SS were fighting around Leningrad where it was commited for long periods of time Estonia formed the rear area for the 18th Armee and part of 16th Armee , i suspect this may have been a unit that was involved in the requisition , care and supply of horses to the units in the combat areas. Remember at this time most of the Artillery and supply units were horse drawn !
