    Hi guys,

I put up a Craigslist ad a few days ago for local folks who are looking to get rid of militaria. So far I have recceived several calls. This guys on the other side of town called earlier and I went to meet him today. He had a variety of things that he apparently had put away for several years, and was trying to sell. He had a lot of fake junk, but this soldbuch intrigued me.

I do not know if the thing is real or fake, but I would like some opinions on it. It has a nice foetid smell to it, but I don't know how easily that is replicated. He's not asking much for it, which is a little alarming, but I figured I would ask for opinions from people who are more knowledgeable than I.

    Thanks gentlemen!

with all the different handwriting styles, unless someone got a group of fakers together ( is the collective noun for that "swill"?? ) that could write old German script I think you are safe Mo!

Looks alright to me, just make sure the entries make sence, fakers tend to just throw random units in and what not.

So I have been doing some reading. I am thinking that it is original. See the date at the top right corner of the front page? It means that he died on March 23rd, 1945. I searched for his name and KIA date in the German war graves registry, and I found him:

    Nachname:

    Kasten

    Vorname:

    Otto

    Dienstgrad:

    Sturmmann

    Geburtsdatum:

    09.04.1909

    Geburtsort:

    Neuhof

    Todes-/Vermisstendatum:

    23.03.1945

    Todes-/Vermisstenort:

    Laz.

Oh man... I don't think I have ever been as excited about a piece of militaria as I am about this.

I am very glad that it has received your blessing! I liked the way it looked at first, but I'm sure you can relate to the feeling you get when you find one potentially good item amongst a pile of fakes...
