For service in the field it looks like he served in the signals platoon of Infanterie-Regiment 70 from 1939 to 1940/41 and in the HQ of Infanterie-Regiment 117 but not enough seen to work out when. He was injured in 1941 & 1944 and he was trained as a medic possibly around 1942/43.

It looks like he finished the war in the medical unit Heeres-Sanitätsstaffel Wernigerode as a member of staff which was located in the Harz district of Germany. His only award was a Wound Badge in Black.
