I think the motorcycle is the BMW R12, but as for that exhaust never seen one like that before.

Perhaps the exhaust was mounted like this so to enable the motorcyclist to cross a shallow river at a ford or some such place. Looks like there is a heat shield around the pipe where the riders leg would be when riding.
