I wonder what's caught her eye????
I really like this picture, and not only because of the tight shirts and freezing temperatures, but because these girls are "blitzmadels". If I remember correctly, the "blitzmadels" were women so named because they fought in combat. I know that at least one of them earned the Iron Cross!

Hi Phill - These are not Nazis, nor are they even Germans, but a Canadian hockey team
called 'The Edmonton Swastikas' from 1916, as I recall.........

Unlike their Russian counterparts, the Germans didnt believe in women seeing combat.
Blitzmädels worked primarily in beind-the-frontline jobs and were not supposed to see hand-to-hand combat.
Some may of course by accident have landed in the immediate frontline, when the enemy rolled over the German lines.
