Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
House Carles at the Battle of Hastings
I thought so but i wanted to ask anyway
I knew there was a fat chance his son would keep them as he is in army too.
Looking for the photo albums of Leutnant Emil Freitag, 3. / G.R. 377
Helmut also became an Oberst in the Bundeswehr so they are a family of Soldaten !!

Thanks Adam! Yeah, this one was definitely the largest project I have done so far. So many faces/uniforms/caps/boots/etc to colorize! haha I am glad you like it, and let me know if I need to change any colors. It was hard to find an example of a Grenadiers uniform to go off of.
I did this one in 3 different sessions, as I saw myself getting sloppy after a little while at it. haha
Man, I would love to look into him a bit more. But it was tough to even find much about him online unfortunately. His awards are just incredible. Sounds like he actually truly earned them as a soldier as well.
Sorry to ask another question, but Do you happen to know what his rank was when he took out the Sherman? I tried to look it up, but was unsuccesful. Seems he was part of almost every battle/campaign in the whole war. Pretty amazing he survived. One tough man!
Its nice to hear that you are still in contact with his son too.
