Wow!
Excellent thread and still better work!
Maybe i will post a pic of my family here too.
The question is grandfather at wwII or his father at wwI.
Bill....Here is the finished product, that your colourized photo is now ready to wing its way to Spain, where it will be presented to my father who lost his dad at the age of 11 in 1944, see dedication..................a big thank you for your help Bill !
I had it professionally printed with a dedication and attached it to a copy of the Lancaster Bomber repair manual by Haynes.............
My Grandfather was in his Lancaster over the Ruhr when it was hit by flak whilst fully laden with bombs.....so no remains........just his name on the Runnymede RAF memorial, so I think my dad will find this book with the photo and dedication kinda cool !
Prost ! Steve.
If you find the time, I have some pictures that my great grandfather took in Berlin and in various other places whist serving with the RE in WW2. Me and my grandmother his daughter are currently writing out a family history, and if you could add colour to any of the pictures he took it would be wonderful
Many thanks Stan
Ill post a few you can take your pick
AWESOME Steve!!!! I love it man. You did a really great job and I'm sure he will love it. A really great gift idea that certainly shows effort and thought IMO.
BTW, I didn't even know that Haynes did manuals for these old planes! I have bought a few of the car ones over the years for some of the junkboxes I've driven! haha
And guys, I will definitely get to them in order. It's a busy time of year for me at work (aerating/etc)....so Please be patient with me. lol
BattleDress, I will be able to one for ya, sure! A lot of these colorizations take hours to complete....but maybe over time we can work to get a few of them done. That group portrait alone would take a couple 2 hour sessions to complete believe it or not. lol
[ATTACH=CONFIG]Yeah those are the only ones I had immediately to hand I do have a few military portrait photos somewhere as I'm sure they would be a lot easier to do than a whole group photo as you say. But if you ever find the time to do one of of them it would be very appreciated indeed

Man, this Alamein photo is a great picture....but I just cant do it! Ahhh, I hate when I cant do a photo that I personally like. I basically have just started it, and already know that it will not come out correctly. The people and objects are just too dark in contrast. Im sorry friend, you are welcome to post another if you would like!
I will show you what I mean.....failed beginning...leads to failed ending
