LwFeldregiment men utilizing a sled with supplies, with Camo smocks in wear. Taken in Winter of 1942
I have a new Fallschirmjager Portrait to share. It is a very large sized portrait too, which is always nice. Taken in Jan 1945
a nice photo of Luftwaffe Jager in sumpftarn smocks.
Note that there are Heer men there as well. The LwFd's were put under the command of the Heer in 1943. In this case, I believe these men are actual Heer soldats, but there are examples in period photos of LwFd men wearing Heer uniform, with Luftwaffe caps/belt buckles/etc. This is because the LwFd's started receiving replacement equipment/uniforms from Heer depots.
Really nice photos Bill!
Here are two of mine, this is Siegfried Vehlow, he was awarded the Deutsche Kreuz in Gold on 10.07.1942 while he was Oberleutnant in the 4/Flak-Lehr-Regiment.
On 25.06.1943 he became Hauptmann in the Feld-Erzats-Batailon 1.
He was later transfered to 4th Luftwaffe Felddivision and became commander of the Panzerjäger abteilung of the 4th Felddivision.
He was promoted to Major on 01.05.1944. On 05.01.1945 he was transfered to the 4th Fallschirmjäger Division as Chief of Staff.
So he went from Flak to Felddivision to Fallschirmjager!
Excellent portrait/group!! Thanks a lot for sharing. its nice to see someone else who enjoys collecting LwFD/FJ photos. He had an interesting career indeed....
