Help deciphering insignia please!

We believe he may have been killed during the second world war, however, family history is a bit fuzzy in that area.

The was no writing on the back of the photo, sadly.

I have just gone to the Deutsche Dienststelle, and entered all of my information. It says the wait time can be up to 12 months. Has any one else found that to be the case?

Leah: I'm sure you will hear something from the Deutsche Dienststelle within a fairly short time. The 12 months wait disclaimer is just that--a disclaimer. I have used them several times and have always gotten an answer within a few weeks. Good luck. Dwight

The link I have provided you with is a German war graves registry. If he was killed, then there is a chance you could find some very good info there.
