# 3: The first sentecne is "Putzen der Pferde zum Appell", i.e. "Cleaning up the horses for the inspection"; but I'm afraid I get too many blanks in the text below to offer a translation.



# 4 says:

...meaning:

"Deer in the Varna-Park
near Aarhus
Dec. 1941"

# 5 says:

"20. Dez. 1941
Aarhus, Vester-Allee-
Kaserne.
Weihnachtsfeier
1941"

...meaning:

"20 Dec. 1941
Aarhus, Vester-Avenue-
Barracks
Christmas celebration
1941"

# 6 says, on the left:

"24.12.41
in Aarhus.
Weihnachtsfeier
auf der Stube."

...meaning...:

"24/12/41
at Aarhus.
Christmas celebration
in our barrack room"

...and on the right:

"Im Hintergrund
(stehend) v. [= von] links nach
rechts:
Nicolai, Hoyer,
Bollerey, Necke, Hille,
Köpnick, Scharping (+);
Im Vordergrund von
links nach rechts:
ich, Birkholz, Reck,
Kühn"

...meaning:

"In the background
(standing) from left to
right:
Nicolai, Hoyer,
Bollerey, Necke, Hille,
Köpnick, Scharping (+);
In the foreground from
left to right:
me, Birkholz, Reck,
Kühn"

So the man who wrote this is seen on the far left in the foreground of this photograph. The "(+)" behind Scharping's name means he had already died when this was written.
