I just thought it was odd that there wasnt ANY insignia! Even the officer to the middle-right, the only way to know that he is an officer is by his belt buckle!
Beg to differ; the circular buckle is no sign of officer status here.

Heer officers wore circular buckles with the brocade dress belt and the tropical webbing belt. With leather belts the double open-claw buckle was worn.
On the other hand, before Police uniforms became standardized throughout the Reich, several state police forces used circular buckles for personnel below officer rank. If these men are indeed Landwehr reservists, this is most likely a older-model surplus State Police buckle.

Furthermore, rank insignia are actually seen on two of the men:

The two Unteroffiziere on the right wear shoulder boards displaying their rank; one also has the collar Tresse. Even in a temporarily raised, provisionally uniformed unit, it would be hard to believe that junior NCOs would wear their rank insignia and an officer wouldn't.

Awesome HPL, thanks for the reply and correction! I thought it was kinda odd if he were an officer and the other JNCOs would be the only ones with insignia. I didnt know about the early circular buckles, only the Claw buckles with black leather belt... So Im happy you informed me. I knew the man w/ circular buckle didnt have brocade, so that was another thing that made me wonder. Thanks again, as always

    Chris, again some sweet photos!

Newbie!, Awesome SS pics! I particularly like the one with the truck and Unit symbol and flag. Very cool.
