A Gebirgsjager troop from GJ Regiment 98 of the 1st GJ Division.

An interesting "story" I found while researching the Regiment, was a photo of GJ Reg 98's (and KC holder) Hauptmann Carl Rall wearing an SS-Totenkopf on his cap along with the edelweiss insignia. This was done by a second man from the Regiment... (KC)Oberst Josef Salminger also! These were supposedly given to them by a Waffen-SS Commander as a token of appreciation for their Anti-Partisan work in Greece 1943. I'm sure the WSS Commander wasnt thinking they would actually wear this "gift" on there Bergmutze', as it was obviously not in regulation.

    Thanks my friend!

Here is a pretty rare photo, showing a Romanian man from SS Prinz Eugen Division.....wearing the scarce Romanian Volksdeutsche Badge (Wehrsportabzeichen). I dont know exactly what this badge was awarded for, but it definitely fits in with the division's composition of troops. The 7th SS Mountain division was made up of Romanians, Croatians and Hungarian Volunteers. The badge tells us that this guy is a Romanian Volunteer (and an ethnic German)!
