Article about: Wish the picture was better but after looking through some books I'm now leaning to a Mauser Modle HSe da auto pistol. 1938 7.65mm in competing with the Walther PP. The wood grip lead me to

    Me neither Mo. I see that it says 1st and 3rd Platoon, but I dont see a unit ID.

    Wonderful close-up of the 38-t. And check out the camo pattern on the Pzkw. I

    I suppose it makes sense, I would just think that the tanks were needed at the front ASAP. Then again they didn't have the fancy computer simulations that tankers in training use today.

    Right, but also note that the tanks (except for those in the column in the foreground) are special training versions that have just the lower chassis, but no upper hulls, turrets etc. Those could only be used for "driver's ed" purposes anyway.

    The NSKK trained over 187,000 drivers and mechanics over the period 1933-45 for all types of vehicles as Andreas has already noted. The time spent on each applicant to learn was listed as around 80 hours for driving and 105 hours on mechanics.

    The KC holder on page 207, post 2069, is Hauptmann Wolfgang Ryll.
    He won the KC on 13.10.41 as Oberleutnant and Fhr.5/Pz.Rgt.7.
