    Hi, a nice "mimosa" made postcard sized image of an HEER Officer and his family. I got this one as it had a good image of the Braunschweig treffen! I think the reverse annotations indicate that he was sadly killed in February 1945. Leon.

    Yes. It says:

    "Zum ewigen Andenken
    an Euren
    Neffen Karl

    geb.
    [= geboren] 16. Dez. [= Dezember] 1912
    gef.
    [= gefallen] 2. Febr. [= Februar] 1945"

    ..i.e.:

    "As an eternal memory
    of your
    nephew Karl

    born 16th December 1912
    KIA 2nd February 1945"

    Allow me to remark that he was not an officer, but an SNCO, more precisely an Oberfeldwebel. A nice portrait showing the old-style Reichswehr-model dress tunic.

    Thank you very much once more for the translation and clarification of rank. Leon.
