General Leutnant Friedrich Freiherr von Broich after his capture in Tunisia in May 1943 whilst Commanding the 10th Panzer Divison.
He was awrded the RK whilst commanding 24 Panzer Gren Brigade , part of the 24th Panzer Division at Stalingrad on 24/8/1942.

Yes it was very common for the towns and villages to put on a show of one of their own won the Ritterkreuz , there would usually be a big write up in the local papers etc as well !!
