He is excused due to the fact he is (also!) a RK trager (mit..)

Seldom seen a general with a Panzervernichtungsabzeichen( on the right place!!).
But what is the officer next to him wearing on the side of his cap?

One of my favourite photos , SS Hauptscharfuhrer Adolf " Adi " Peichl presenting a bottle of wine to members of SS Panzer Regt 2 for their 2000th kill !! If the photo was in colour we would be able to see that Peichls top PVA is gold , he later won the RK and was was of the best individual tank Killers of the war winning 11 PVA awards , plus the Nahkampfspange in Gold , VWA in Gold a remarkable soldier !!
