postcard from 1938
hi. i have a poscard dating from 1938-39. On the front it has an iron cross with swastiuka in the centre. on the reverse where the stamp goes there is a pic of hitler. There is also german writing on it, ( no surprise there). The card is in mint condition. not a crease or tear in sight. Would anyone happen to know the value or any interested collectors? many thanks.

Re: postcard from 1938
Hi, welcome to the forum.
It will have a small value and be of interest to collectors.
Could you show a pic?
Cheers, Ade.

Re: postcard from 1938
The postcard is "pre-paid" which means it has the stamp design printed on the card already,
this is typical in Germany.
The stamp design was first issued as a stamp on 28th April 1939,
however our postcard (using this stamp design) was issued on 12th July 1940.
( 6 Rpf being the standard postcard rate and the surcharge of 19 Rpf being for Hitlers culture fund).
The text under the Iron Cross reads:
"There can only be one victor and that is us"
(The text is from a Hitler speech given on 8th November 1939)
Oh and before I forget, the designer of the stamp and postcard was Gottfried Klein.
Cheers, Bill.
