Here's another. I managed to translate most of it : -

In memory of your brother Helmut. K'nes 1944.

My question is, what or where is K'nes?

Sorry to disappoint you, but frankly, I haven't got the foggiest idea and cannot come up with any possible answer by means of some online research either.

It's not a word from the Standard German vocabulary, although it might just be a term from some regional dialect that I am unfamiliar with. It could also be a foreign and/or abbreviated geographical designation.

Like I said; no idea...

Hi, I've found another. It's mentions Helgoland I think. Also, does anyone know what the N stands for? Cheers, Richard.

Hi Richard, I suspect that it is an abrieivation for Kirkennes in Norway? Lots of coastal artillery there.

The "N" on the shoulder strap is for Nordsee (North Sea).

Kirkenes... Interesting idea and a very good possibility!
(By the way, this "K'nes" abbreviation reminds me of the slang term "K-Town" used for Kaiserslautern by the U.S. troops stationed there.)

Right. it says...

"Im Kriegsjahr 1940 auf Helgoland
M.A. Gefr. Hein Schröder"

...meaning...

"In the year of war 1940 on Helgoland
M.A. Gefr. [= Marineartilleriegefreiter] Hein Schröder"

Hi Chaps, I've been buying a few pics/postcards recently & I'd like help with the writing on the back. Here's the first one from 1942. Also of note is the silver wire breast eagle.

What it the other ribbon in his button hole with his Ostfront medal? None of the usual suspects add up to me.

Ade, I think you've got to be right. Being that the card's 'in memorium' Helmut was probably killed in the Petsamo–Kirkenes Offensive of 1944. Here's a link for details Petsamo I was unaware of this action, so to add some info to the card is great.
