Article about: I could go on for ages on this. Last one from me and I hope I'm not over stepping the boundary with this shot. It is a well known picture

I believe the facial scar is a result of being wounded in battle - not a from a duel.

Tychsen was wounded more than nine times before he was killed during battle in Normandy.

Well, with all those mensur scars around in pics from that time period, it was a natural assumption to make IMO.

I wouldnt put money on my battle damage statement either, as that likewise is just an assumption.

IMO mensur scars often look different from that facial damage though.

Tychsens facial injuries were caused by shrapnel wounds to the face.

Anyone wanting to post here please read the first post by the thread starter which explains the intention of the thread !! That intention is clear, to show the perceived Game Face of German WW2 Soldiers and some excellent shots have been posted thus far !!

Now the thread has disappointingly been hijacked by photos from the Civil war / Einsatzgruppen etc etc which have started discussions that have no relevance here , if you want to post such photos do so by all means but in your own thread in the appropriate area , the only reason they haven't been deleted is that that would disrupt the flow of the thread but please do not let that encourage anyone to continue to post off topic,

    regards

    Paul

As the two images you mentioned Paul were posted by me I can only assume I am the hijacker in question. It was never my intention to "hijack" anything.
I only posted the US civil war image to show the "faces" and emotion of battle it's a good example, some had "the face" some not and due to the aggressive stance of the Einsatzgruppen soldier (who is most likely German) well I can only assume he to had "the face".I can't predict what other members reply's will be and it would be rude not to respond back in turn. It is a forum. Were the images of my other posts Ok or were they off topic also?
So sorry for any misconceptions or offence and fell free to delete what ever you wish if you feel it's inappropriate or it doesn't fit the "text book" standard of this magnificant thread.
    All the best

    Dave,

There is no "Text book " standard that you need to fit into just follow the guidelines of the intention of the thread !! As far as any photo of an execution by an Einsatzgruppen it is safe to assume that it is going to raise some debate as they always do , all i point out that this thread is not the appropriate place for it.
