    He is Paul Von Hindenburg.

    the text on the paper says, the frame around the pic, is made by the owner
    in the aera of Erzgebirge in Germany, the hole is a matter of a contest called
    the Arbeitsschalcht (workcontest)an it might be a form of a "urkunde"

    Hindenburg is correct - he's the one who offered the Chancellorship to Crazy Adolf! Hitler in turn took complete control upon his death. I'm being very simplistic here but you get my drift.

    Field MArshall Paul von Hindenburg served as President of Gemany from 1925 until his death in 1934. He appointed Hitler Chancellor at the end of January, 1933 after prodding by some of the people around him, in particular his son Oskar. The Conservatives who surrounded and supported von Hindenburg, by that time an old man, felt that even if Hitler was given the Chancellorship he could be controlled by the conservative members of his cabinet. They were sadly mistaken.
