I'm very happy that this came back up as I don't think I was a member at the time of this thread, or at least not active.
Off course a big thank you for your work so that we could share the pictures.
They were/are very mesmerizing. While the pictures do not hide the fact that they were taken in the midst of the war they
don't just show death, carnage and evil. Please no one take this wrong but after you've seen a few pictures of bodies blown
to pieces and towns burning to the ground you may as well have seen them all regarding what goes through your mind.
It's not often you come across a collection of photographs like this were each one is unique and makes you take time to look
a little deeper into them.
Truly worth much more than any bought medal.
It's a long time since I posted something about my grandfather, but on August 6th I received an envelope from Berlin. The WASt answered my search request.
On August 7th our first child, a boy called Leo, was born, so I had very little time to post what the WASt found out about my grandfather.
I waited for so long, nearly a year, but on that 6th of August wait found an end.
I don't understand everything so perhaps HPL can clarify things. Here is what they send me:
