Well I decided to finally buy a Aussie Flag and stick it out the front for Austraya Day ~

Mate told em ~ Go see Our Local Federal member's Office and ask for a (Free) Flag~

So I rang his office but she announced that He insisted that a Criteria be met ` She asked me a raft of Questions to assess if I "Qualified" !

I had resigned that I would not going to be one of the Select few ~ when she announced it was all Good ~

    But it arrived ~ (Made in Australia ) 80 cm * 180 cm ~

And more ironically ~ I made the mount bracket from an Off Cut Of a WWII Two pdr. cannon shell case,

This sort makes me feela little Pride in knowing that the Off cut was meant to be a Trench art piece some 75 years ago and now it finally makes a very special purpose ~

well i am now paying my Dues for a Fantastic four weeks in December ~

Went for a Solo hunt yesterday in anticipation of Forecast rain ~ which the Gods have delivered on today ~

But i walked about 10 Kilometres for a very sad return ~

Although the One item I did dig is a Pearler ~ In fact I was all but slapped down for Under stating the First Ever Intact Harmonica I have ever seen ~

Ms m ~ Mates Robert and Ben all upgraded the find from ~ Ho Hum to " Wow" status at a glance ~ After all this is a personal Relics that Serving Aussie Digger owned ~ Mate

I was very surprised that it had never been found preciously as this camp site I have hammered from years ~ but again I think in hindsight this again down to my tweaking the Nox settings ~ aiming for depth ~

The Harmonica is currently in the Snake oil ~ first run revealed extensive "talk" or inscriptions ~ Hopefully it may even have the Digger's name inscribed !

    The Target Trench

The New detector now tweaked up can discriminate between bullet shells projectiles and more quality targets ~

But 1000's of Shell cases and even Projectiles ~ But humble findings!

We did a few hours before calling time ~ and good timing as I got Home just as a huge storm closed in ~

The Oiler is Stamped OA ~ Made at the Orange feeder factory for the Lithgow Small Arms Factory in WW2

Orange is a Industrial town some 40 Miles west of Lithgow the parent armoury ~ in NSW (Australia)

And in turn Lithgow is a similar distance from Sydney to the East.

Been raining cats ad Dogs and the only I could Hunt was to either risk or get drenched ~ worked both way ~

Three hunts same site ~ Australian and US Army General Head quarters ~ Pls Communications centre and Pigeon Loft units.

Group Photo of Australian and US military Senior ranks during a Conference 1942 ~

As the rain has seriously created regrowth I figured my current last resort site will and is over growing rapidly and the best move is get in there before the tangle weeds over run the entire site. The farmer's cows have now gotten very choosy about what grass they eat ad then they are not eating fast enough.

A curious first find ~ two coppers fused together ~

    A battle damaged fifty cal 1942 LC ~ A off cut of a 2 Pdr. ~ A brass Pipe Union ~

An unusual belt end ~ I am wondering if it is US Army

Looks pretty innocuous. But is full and actually bordering on Impenetrable!

Same site ~ Grass even taller ~ more rain and Sunshine to cultivate the under growth` the Cockie's Cows are not eating fast enough!

A intriguing signal combination ~ a tent Peg with a brass Tarp Ring ~

Australian WWII - Far North Queensland Metal detecting and recovery

Queen Vic Bun Penny 1885 Arguably one of the Best QV coins to date

I dug a strong signal~ < 30-31 > I turned out a Three pence ~ but that seemed too strong for a thrip! Looked again ~ and blow me down a Florin ~ Checked again ~ A KG VI Roo Penny ~

I was so pumped as i have not seen a Florin for 2 1/2 Years ! ~ I rang home base oto report in and then was about to refill the hole but checked it once more and WOW ~ A Ram's head Shilling !

Australian WWII - Far North Queensland Metal detecting and recovery

I was pissed when i got back to Base that I had lost a second trench art letter opener ~ an hour or so later when I was repacking the Kit I foudn it ~ stuck inteh sleeve of my water Bottle ~

The Other trench art letter opener ~ Pity about the Cow bell as it is solid Brass ~ a Pearler ~

Australian WWII - Far North Queensland Metal detecting and recovery

The small rectangular tag is a Service Ribbon tag ~ most likely a Africa Star ribbon which was very common after Australian troops retruned form the North African campaign ~

The King George VI Florins are Beautiful coins ~ and 93% silver these period Silvers obviously respond wonderfully to cleaning ~
