    Talking Back to the Bulge!

I was gone for the whole day in the ardennes and did some nice finds.
    +-50 .30 Cal AP 30+ live
    -one winter coat USarmy,recoverd 2big brass button's and 1small.
    -7 .50 Cal 1 live.
    -9 7.92mm casing's 1 live.
    -1 flare cartridge.
    -1 German infantry shovel.
-1 Barrel cleaning rod(I think for .50cal US or for a German 20mm).
    -1 German mortar igniter(81mm)
-And the strangest thing of all 4 .303 casing's(2 from 1941 and 2 from 1944) Can't explain that one as there were no British units there...
-And 1 7x57mm casing with the mark HP

Thanks,It's a shame, but yes the coat was total loss,a friend found 3 others not more than 5feet from where I was digging he recoverd almost 18 big en 4 small button's.The same for him total loss, they fell apart only by looking at them them he also found some peaces of a webbing and a leather glove with 10 .45 cal in,they where like new. Also an 81mm mortar tail (germ) a few feet further.Had a cold shill down my spine, being pepperd by a direct mortar hit, got to be a horrible way to go...

Wasn't the sten a 9mm submachine gun? but why not,it's a possibillity, the germans were using all kinds of captured weapons.

Nice finds! What Id give to be able to have a hunt around there, ...correct me If Im wrong but doesnt one of the head stampings on the .303 cases have a manufacture date of 1957? also the one marked MJ is Australian made, which isnt unusual as Australia sent heaps of Ammo over as aid to England
