    Hi John

I would say that you are batting along the right lines with your tentative id of pic 1 as being "Lanchester". I would go so far as to say that it is the manufacturers name plate off of a vehicle. Lanchester not only made a SMG, they also made ARMOURED CARS and this looks like the name plate off one of those.

Pic 1 is defo a Lanchester Car badge

The Lanchester SMG was made by Sterling (Mainly) and was named after the chief engineer George Lanchester. The Lanchester car maker had no involvement.

Thats something that Ive just learnt then, I was always under the impression that it was the Lanchester cars people that made them.
    Thanks mate.

    Nice finds

The two red tins.......could they be the lid and base of the same tin ? It looks like a first aid tin of some sort.

Yep. Got a couple of each. I have now learnt that the guys used the following items and have found them at numerous sites. I reckon they had a contract to supply the US and British armies.

    Gibbs Dentifrice
    Horlicks
    Nivea
    Macleans
    Spring Delight (jam)
    Mansion Polish
    Ipana Toothpaste
    Kolynos toothpaste
    Shavallo

And various other bits. I find these the most frequently though.

    Cheers
