    Hello Dimas / Alex and Paul. Excellent weekend was had at Auvere with a few positive finds. Pity about the weather, but thats October for you. Sorry Alex and Paul did not make it this time, but we will be back next year. Will sort some photos out to post on the site asap.

    Guys the digging this time was very difficult this time due to the heavy rain and clinging mud , true Ostfront battlefield conditions were recreated !!!

    This didn't stop the excavations it just made taking photos difficult with all our fancy digital cameras.

    This trip on the first day we found a number of Russian soldiers in the trenches on one of the main German defensive lines.

    Two were found in one location and 5 ?? in what appeared to be a shell hole burial.

    Here are a few photos.

    First Russian soldier found in the trench with him were his Leningrad medal and his cigarette case with name on it we think we have his identity he was from Sevastopol and was 46 years old when KIA !!

    After great work by Juri we found the actual round metal section this is them after cleaning.

    Hello to everyone. That's a pitty but I was really ill at that time and coudn't to go digging.

    Here's the photo of Soviet M40/2 helmet cleaned by Dimas.
    The shell is still strong, but the paint is only inside.

    The sigarette case exept the name and last name of solder-owner has a names of at least 6 women. Very interesting.
