Actually the Freikorps Danmark was in this area from 1942 and onwards. Very interesting to see your finds. Any dogtags yet?

You're right, from 20th of May 1942 the Frikorps Danmark was attached to the Totenkopf division. During the summer they fought hard battles almost non-stop, in order to secure the narrow corridor to the pocket. They lost around 50% of the strenght (around 600 incl wounded) until they were redeployed in 5th of August 1942. Danish veteran former sturmbahnführer Oluf Krabbe has made drawings showing the exact positions of the Frikorps, if anyone is interested I can take a photo from his book and post it here.Actually the Freikorps Danmark was in this area from 1942 and onwards.

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader
