Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,

A Japanses Navy or Naval Landing Force shrapnel damaged helmet. There is a small area of damge/dent a little less the dia of a dime on the front of the helmet from a shrapnel impact. There was some penetration inside the helmet from the impact and which may have caused the wearer a slight head wound from metal pieces or debris as a result of the impact as there is dried blood staining both on inside and outside of the helmet and in the impact area probably from the handling the helmet after and also placing a bloody finger in the impact area. A natual thing to do after taking off the helmet.
