    I know,I'm never looking for those bloody thing's.The damaged canteen was the only nice find that day,that made good for my soild boxers lol
    But I dont know what the iron can whit the parachute cord and the little round box(7,5cm across 3cm high and it was rather heavy for such a small thing)is all about...
    Not knowing what is and never got it open,I made a deep hole for it and gave it back to mother nature...
    Any ideas someone?

    It was an M1carabine magazine,fully loaded.I've kepd a few rounds and they look'd like new after clean-up

    I would suggest that the metal cannister with para cord is a large Illumination flare usually fired from a mortar

    Thanks for the intel,did the Americans use the 4.2inch mortar?
