You are right on that one.....never seen an original relic, nor a french volunteer helmet. Saw one (none relic) with a factory produced decal that had a chance....but never a relic...
Another thing yet to see is an original hand painted spanish shled on a helmet, never seen one that i would say original....!
more relics comming soon.....
Thank you for sharing this very informative topic about these extremely rare relics. This is actually the first time I see photos of Spanish-German helmets.
Great thread! Thanks for starting it and sharing the items
Now we think that sometimes helmets and equipment is hard to find...and indeed it is, but even harder are badges and medals.....just imagine searching in a mud filled bunker...and now find a tinny medal....well here is the case.....Both of these surfaced in the Novgorod area...I think more specifically Teremez.
The one in the photo as found, is the one on the right in the first photo after cleaning
These period "Cangrejos de Aguinaldo" are relatively easy to find in Spain, as many were made during the 40´s, but EXTREMELY RARE are the ones found in Russia that were actually used by the Blue Division....!! Only know of some in collections....
