Hey guys! When you think of WW2 most people don't think of boston. Even more the harbor islands in Boston. But there is some really cool history! So my first picture of the AA gun is on georges island, has a very big civil war fort on it very fun to explore, very well kept. There are over 30 good size islands in the Boston harbor. Most of them were built up as military forts in the 1890s. Most now are complete ruins, several of them were built up during WW1 and WW2. One of the biggest-Pedocks island housed Italian WW2 POWS. My second group of pictures is of lovells island. What's left of a WW1 era fort. Not too many people visit a lot of these islands, georges is the most popular. Because of that lovells island is heavily overgrown, and in ruins the bunker complex is very big and goes down very deep. Last three pictures are of a WW1 mess hall on bumpkin island complete ruins. Also if your in the Boston area take a 30 min train ride to the Natick WW2 museum. Very cool place can pick up most items. It's the biggest private collection in the USA!
Please view my new much more detailed thread, about Bostons WW2 harbor defenses.
