Hi, Kameraden!
We had winter like in 1942 in Stalingrad, a lot of snow and really cold, spring started late.
As I hadn't been to forest for good dig since November, I made digging marathon for myself. On Easter I had 4 free days, so I decited to go all thease days for digging, but I wanted to make it cheap, so I went to my friends house in Kurland by bus, his house is built on WWII battlefield.
22nd of April, I arrived and we decided to go to the place where he was digging week before I arrived, forest is about 4 kilometers from his house and we decided to go on bikes
My first find of this season was .30 Cal US round,
My friends first find of the day was MG34 parts
Another my find there was, as I think, belt receiver of .50 cal MG
We decided to go on other side of road, there we found German bunkers, I found there part of German helmet liner, then we started to find a lot of aluminium scrap
Then aluminium signals became bigger and we found 2 craters and a lot of parts, from them we decided that it is IL-2 Sturmovik, Soviet attacker plane, it blew up in the air and parts of it felt on German bunker town. Big iron part which is on many photos is rear gunners 12,7 mm UBT MG mechanism part, barell is broken off.
Ice is still here

wish i lived where you live. id be out every day! cool finds
23rd of April, came 2 another my friends on car and motorbike, so we went on car to last German frontline. First place was house deep in Kurland forests where local people had some stuff for us all except barell now is mine
Woman who live in that house showed us untouched German bunker town, no great finds but something interesting also. And again parts of airplane, crater, and it is again IL-2
As always all dangerous stuff was thrown out in swamp.
Always good when the digging season starts again Andris
We are coming to Kurland at the end of May , i hope we have good luck in the forests !!!
The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

Thought shall be the harder , heart the keener,
Courage the greater as our strength faileth.
Here lies our leader ,in the dust of his greatness.
Who leaves him now , be damned forever.
We who are old now shall not leave this Battle,
But lie at his feet , in the dust with our leader

24th of April, Day on motorbike, but in the morning we went to forest which is 300 meters from house where I lived thease days, first signal there was SU-76 wheel, all that forest is full of war scrap and tank parts, second part of day we were searching for new places, found MG42 barell and Panzerfaust tube, third part of day digging first plane.
