I've used regular mobile chargers in the past, cutting off the connecting end (to the mobile phone) and attaching a pair of battery charger clips... good for a cheap - free budget type set-up--- works good. But, of course, this depends on the object and how fast you want the job to be done etc.

I have used both 12v and 24v. 24 volts get the job done in a jiffy haha, but maybe a litte to aggressive for some relics. 12v and longer time in the bath is perfekt.
