Definitively it looks like an electric heater - ceramic beads were usually used as isolation.
I thank you for the photo updates on your digs, keep up the good work, I probably can't get to your part of the world but that doesn't mean I''m not interested in your work. Best of luck to you and your mates. If you make it to Dallas Texas PM me and I'll make sure you have some memories to take home with you.

One of the days last week I was digging a good signal and I smelled something familiar, but at first I couldnt remember what the smell was,,so i kept digging,,the smell was stronger and I can also hear a very weak buzzing sound,,hmmm,,what ever could it be?? I looked around and saw nothing, but then I saw all the soil was moving,it moved on my metaldetector,up my shovel,on my feet and arms,,ANTS!!!! aaaaahhh,,Panic!!They was all over me,,HolyCarp,,never dig next to a large anthill!
I did NOT take the time to pull up the camera at that point, but moved over to another signal and found lots of old rust again
