    John,
You've got some very nice finds there, I assume all found without the use of your MD. Its always a good feeling to find great items like the button with nothing more than attentive eyes. I think your right about the .50 cal clip have you tried one for fit?
    Cheers.

Some nice finds WH. It is definitely a 50cal link.

I am doubtful the bloke you spoke to is correct about it being a post war dump. If it was, I don't think it would have random cartridge cases and links. Why would they chuck them in a dump in the 50's ? This seems much more like general refuse to me and not 'closure' refuse.

Hi Steve, I think he was correct, All the stuff is wartime but was thrown out in the 50's when they had a clear out and pulled the buildings down. As LS said before it would be odd to have the dump next to the runway when it was in use, with all the birds flying around surely that would be a risk.

    Cheers

Just using the pick tool, lots of stuff lying on surface. I'm pleased with the button an the .50cal fits in nicely

Hi WH - the last item looks like a brake pad retaining clip - probably from an aircraft
