It's the Manufacturer's Tag of the Aircraft listing the Serial-Number, etc...I believe these can be researched, but that's out of my expertise...
No old Fliegerhorst in the area? I speculate this tag may have been attached to a crate of spare parts for this particular aircraft...(?)
    cheers, Glenn

Hi Glenn Plenty Army Barracks in Bielefeld but Gütersloh and Detmold were the nearest Luftwaffe bases that i know of in the area.
If it can be researched then i will definately look into it a bit further.
    Many thanks

I note that the tag is also marked for the Arado Ar 68 which was the relatively disappointing replacement for the He 51. So the part, whatever it was, must have been compatible to both. Maybe regarding the BMW V1 engine that both aircraft shared as this is inscribed on the tag?

    He 51.
