Going to go to Berlin at the end of May - are there any digging tours or tours of any kind that people know of or can recommend?
Thanks,
Mike

Maybe one of these underground tours? Berliner Unterwelten e.V. | Guided tours
That is a good idea, but do you know of any digging trips where I can actually have an opportunity to perform some excavations?
Not around Berlin. It is against the law to dig on any of the old WW2 battlefields in Germany as far as I recall.
I see, thanks for your replies.
What if I venture out further past Berlin, any such opportunities?
The given answers are correct. In Germany each state has its own laws for the preservation of sites of historic interest. In some states you are allowed to own a metal detector and use it but you're not allowed to dig if you find something. You need a permit for actual digging. Especially the areas of Berlin, Brandenburg and Bayern have very strict laws and usually it's not allowed to walk around with a metal detector. All areas around Berlin - especially the WWII sites - are completely off-limits.
There is your answer. It's a no no.......
Thanks for all the responses.
