Interesting how the soil to the east of the Kinderheiom has preserved things better than that to the South , maybe because it is further away from the swamps ?

How have the helmets , tags and buckles cleaned up ?

The MG ammo can with SS Bob is very interesting , Bob is a shortened version of the name Robert in English , i'm not sure if other nations German or Danes do this as well ??

I think those Danish volunteers were KIA on july 28. Because in this day early morning russians started an offensive from the north to the Lastekodumagi. During this battle the poor remains of sturmbrigade Langemark, antipanzer companie with one PAK-40 punched out a couple of soviet tannks and they pushed back. Then russians made a huge mortar barrage on a Lastekodumagi hill and fellows from Langemarg and Danmark had no choice (the south part of a hill was allready captured 27 july by russians) as move to a no mans land for a saving their life. Running from mortar barrage they located very closely to a russian positions and there started a close combat.
But anyway those bodies looks like they were dropped onto the trench strictly after battle, because has no belts (exept russian) straps, wallets et cetery... one belt was found a half meter deeper on the ground of a trench, but empty.

I think you are right definately killed on 28th / 29th when they were cut off behind the Russian advance to the Kinderheim.

Dim i've been checking my records and they show the following Officers from Danmark killed in action near this place.

SS Untersturmfuhrer Arne Skov-Nielsen 5 / SS Pz Gren Regt 24 KIA 30/7/1944.

SS Obersturmfuhrer Kaj Bertramsen Chef 11 / SS Pz Gren Regt 24 KIA 29/7/1944 Chundinurk - Estland.

Maybe the Officer is one of them ?

Kaj Albert Hans Bertramsen (13 February 1913 in Berlin - July 29, 1944 in Narva, Estonia) was a German-born, Danish Nazi soldier who served on the German side and the Free Corps Denmark. Kaj Bertramsen born in Germany but became a Danish citizen.

In July 1941 he joined into the Free Corps Denmark. In the Danish army reached Kaj Betramsen a rank of second lieutenant and therefore he was enrolled in the German army with a similar rank as Untersturmführer.

In Frikorpset he served in reserve Company. And was therefore not at the front, then the corps would fight at Demjansk and later by Welikije Luki. Instead he worked behind the front to train new recruits who could fill the growing gaps after the wounded and fallen.

In May 1943 following Kaj Bertramsen with as Frikorpset is used for creation of SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 24 "Denmark" in 11th SS-Panzergrenadier-Division "Nordland". The training of new recruits to the division's many units were then assembled in an education reserve battalion, where he came to serve.

Bertramsen come to the front together with SS-Panzergrenadier-Regiment 24 "Denmark". And among other associated the second battalion, where he is in a period of company officers of the 6th company. In January 1944 he will platoon in a motorcycle division. Later he arrives for the third battalion, where he 29 July 1944 during the fierce fighting at Kinderheimhöhe must take over the 11th company because his boss Hauptsturmführer Paul Trautwein were wounded. Subsequent falls Kaj Bertramsen during the heavy fighting.

Another trip to the field was also very productive- 3 days and the field give us 4 bodies, 2 soviets - most probably fully stripped with explosion. 2 of the germans- hardly damaged, one has at least 20 % of bones, another has direct hit to the head, his head and dogtag was found approx 2 meters from him itself, probably he was a second crewman from the MG 42 crew, he was killed during the swapping the barrel on the MG.
Danes has made a lot of bad to the civils in the Russia and their cruilty was a reason of the order in the 2nd schock army- no prisoners from the Danemark, the Danes know about that and tried to escape from the area, but lost all of them in the field. I don't know how many men was served in the 5th company, and how many they place there, but looks like a Soviet weapon has made a mix of the earth with bones together. Each hole in the earth give a small pieces of the bones. One dogtag was found without remains- that is a Freikorps Danemark 3 Kp dogtag

Note that all the stuff in the pictures is damaged, even the cartridges. NOTE: the coins was found in the german soldier's pocket and has small mortar fragmentation damages. Two of the Soviet soldiers
