Korean War: Battle for Wonju

Well, winter is definitely set in here so I thought I'd post a few more findings
since I can't go out.
These are relics from the Korean War and the Wonju area. Fighting seesawed
back and forth numerous times that involved U.S., Netherlands, South Korean,
North Korean and Chinese (CCF) in early 1951 as well as number of other U.N.
forces.

First is a CCF rice bowl.
2nd are 20mm rounds but this picture was taken BEFORE I realized the potential
danger of handling them. I found 3 total but properly disposed of them since then.
3rd: U.S. rifle grenade. I was gentally uncovering it when a small stone fell from above hitting the top of the grenade. Yes, I nearly dropped a load in my pants.
4th: A CCF stick grenade (concussion). The Chinese didn't have enough weapons to go around but they had plenty of these to throw, stun a enemy, and take their weapon.
5th: This may be disturbing to some but it's actually a small medical vile with what looks like preserved human blood in it as the cork had solidified. I'm fairly certain it's U.S. but the size of it throws me off.
6th: Another look...any help in identifing it would be great! Good chance I'll be
donating this to the U.S. Army Office of Medical History in the U.S.
7th: All the finds from that day including a bit of leather belts
8: My first pull tab. Always wanted to find one of those...
9: I'm guessing a S. Korean field uniform button probably from a uniform worn by
a Chinese soldier as they often removed and wore u.s. and s.k. uniforms as
a disguise and to stay warm.
10: 19 rounds from a M1919 machinegun belt with the fabric still intact except
where it looks like the crew purposely cut out the tracer rounds. For a good
reason!
11: A cup, can't rightly tell who it belonged to. Likely U.S....
12: Finally, another look at that belt.

Well, that's the majority of the important finds of the past year. I'm only too
anxious for Spring to arrive, jump in the car and head out again.

Thanks John. It did the same to me once I realized that's not rain water in that
vile.
On a less somber note, I downloaded Band of Brothers this past week, been
watching the videos, did a wiki search on Maj. Dick Winters and realized he was in
his ninties...several days later I learned he had just passed away. Shock and sadness were my reactions.
What a heck of a leader. A true leader.
The irony is that Maj. Winters left the military at a lower rank than that good for
nothing Lt. Dike. That's life. That's war. But in the end, who became more widely
known and a legend?
A real life legend has passed away, forever spoken in the accolades of warfare.

I love brand of brothers i've got the dvd only seen the first few episodes but seen them 20 times

nice ground dug items you have, i love to find stuff buried for all those years i have a few relic pieces myself. I have a korean war battle flag with some nice holes from rounds in it, marked 1953,
