Blokes like you inspire me to get out there and see if I can find those German WWII relics that have been discarded or lost by Australian Diggers that were in North Africa fighting Rommel's Afrika Corp ~ and other Mediterranean fronts against the Nazi Armies ~
I have already found a Germany Army canteen cup ~ which was a total surprise and unexpected ~ but I guess / hope there will be more to be found !

Nice to have your son helping but he is having to learn of the harshness of war early.
Call me old fashioned but dealing with death can be hard on a young person.
I would not take a child on an exhumation myself......... but that is me.

I hear what you are saying ~ but seems our future generations are headed into harsh reality days watching the insanity that us sweeping the World..
If Big Ears, here sends our boys to Iraq there WILL BE NO quarter given I suspect ~ a hard lesson for any Solider to bear!~
Maybe the insanity and brutality has always been there ~ and modern media is slamming us in the face... just like in WWII or WWI would have done to very young minds ~
