Ahh now wait a minute, at the back of the dig i found a load of large round cans as well as some items that looked like they came from the kitchens, large deep trays etc also large pan type items, wondering if it could be something from the kitchens

Some one in my dads metal detecting club has just found over 200 items of trasure trove from the Roman period. He tells me there are at least 80 coins and most are very rare or never seen before examples. Some people get all the luck!

True, but now all the hassel starts as to treasure trove and who gets what, absolute rubbish what the government says you have to do with it, you found it you should be able to dispose of it as you see fit

My guess on the cap is it was from a can/drum of Glycol the aero engine coolant, they used loads of the stuff.

Its Kendal MDC, I'm sure it will hit the news at some point, my dads just told me its Viking not Roman (I'm sure he told me roman 1st time around) and a conservative estimate of £1.5 million has been placed on it.
