    We find them scattered all over and they all have the same holes.

    Well, if they're scattered all over then they are liekly to be a fuse component of some description. Do they show signs of explosive damage ? If they don't, they are more likely to be transport plugs of some description. Sorry I can't help any more.

    Mine are too, some look as they have been ripped in pieces.
    Also they give a verry clear brass id tone on my MD.
