    Default Nijmegen area find

    Hello,

I live near Nijmegen and i'm seaching often to things of WW2 with a metal detector.
For a short time ago, i went to a site where in WW2 a mortar stand was.

In the first hour i found already-ditched-up mortar/25pounder shell cases and other rubbish. But 3 feet beside a traffic road i found this beauty!

A British oil compass! It does still works!

Thank you all for the posts.

For a couple of months ago i have founded a very, very huge dump-hole (about 20 meters long and 5meters wide) with rubbish from an camp from the British and Scotch soldiers, located in the woods. It's only 5minutes walk from my home, so thats a big + !
I will post some pictures in a couple of days, i have found very nice things where i thougt about you can only find on sites like the foreign Eastern Front!
But it seems to be possible everywhere, like in my village!

I will post it as soon as possible.

Interesting stuff, my father fought at Nijmegen (and he slept in one of the bridge pillars, apparently).
