Hi Lucky, back to the original item on this thread. Can you tell me why the inside (white) of the plate shows excessive pitting and rust as befits a piece of metal of this vintage, while the outside shows a beautiful, almost new, coating of paint? Did you perhaps respray it?

Hi stuG III, Thanks for the question, no I've not touched this it's in its original as found condition. The reason one side is more rusted is simply because that side faced up in the ground and consequently got the rain. The underside/white side was protected from this and I guess thats why its in better condition.

It looks like a truck hand brake, as used in 1941 -1946 Chevrolet and GMC models, by the looks of the part with the return spring. Is the rest of it solid or hollow?

Hi cgg91 thanks for your reply, apart from the spring loaded concave handle the rest of the lever is solid steel and very strong.
