    Panther Track !!


    A nice size comparison photo , Tiger 1 , Panther ,Sturmgeschutz all from Narva , the Tiger 1 link is from 2 Kompanie schwere Panzer Abt 502 , the Kompanie of Tank Ace Otto Carius . Found in the Auwere area they were the only Tiger unit to operate on the Narva Front during the 9 months of fighting.
    The gates of hell were opened and we accepted the invitation to enter" 26/880 Lance Sgt, Edward Dyke. 26th Bn Northumberland Fusiliers , ( 3rd Tyneside Irish )

    Do you have one? Be interesting to see the comparison!

    Just out of curiosity, did a T34 have wider tracks than say a Panther ? It’s well known one of the T34's advantages was its wide tracks and performed well in snow???

    The wide tracks were mostly for the mud. We have a LOT of mud here.....

    T 34 used 2 width tracks, 500/550mm Panther track was 660mm.

    I read they were good in the snow in as well ? More surface area to spread the weight ? Far better than the German tanks? The Waffen SS even employed locals to clear paths through the snow for their armour I believe ???
