Any idea on the 'link chute' PB or the iron item pictured with the padlock ?
The right-angle bend on the link chute would match up with those of Frazer-Nash turrets on Lancs.
Some more pictures I've dug out showing various bits.
More pictures of bomb trailers, all carrying 'cookies' but not sure if they're the same type.
One for Harry211. Your arming vane........I've found it Note the vanes in the tail assembly of these GP bombs. They will be attached to a tail pistol via a long rod, probably a No 28
One for 381st (I think). That unusual transport nut you found, the cone shape with the two segments cut out of it.......here ya go

Thanks PB. I now know how to spot Type C and D
On a similar note, I have asked the landowner for permission to search for more items like this around the bomb dumps. My theory is if that there is one in the base dump, there could be more in or around the bomb dumps. Fingers crossed !
Initial clean up of one of my buckets.
First thing I found on site was a large piece of armoured glass laying on the surface,The rest of my finds where just under the surface.
Variety of finds including an instrument and a nice cup,Sadly missing its handle.
The three rusty iron pieces are,Two Sten gun magazines folded in half and a Sten gun Magazine housing assembly.
Bits that I had, although not stunning and were probably amongst the more common bits that were turning up I was none the less pleased with.
Some nice marked crockery and Brylcreem bottles, various bomb pistols with at least two different mark numbers, a few bits of aviation debris including one piece clearly still showing the black paint and what appears to be an exit 'wound' (I always like bits like this that if they could only talk really have been there and seen it!!). There is one large chunk that appears to have experienced some real heat, I am presuming is fuel tank as it still has rubber between the double layer of bolts and is again clearly aviation based alloy.
Other bits and pieces as you can see!
Hope bits of interest
Cheers
Steve
Nice bits guys.
Mossie - That wing nut looks like an arming vane off a No. 54 tail pistol. Either that or a chopped up 28/30 nut. (pic below). Nice lot of 848 bits and I LOVE the sectioned one !!
Steve - Very nice crockery you got and a couple of nice Brylcream jars A very nice No 28 firing pin as well. Pity they weren't all such good quality stainless steel.
