Here is what i think is my best ever find.
Its an 8th air force patch that came out of my dump over the weekend.
I couldnt believe it when this came out. Clearly the condition isnt great but its been laying there for 65+ years.

Wow that is a good find. It took me a bit to focus on it but sure enough it looks
8th Airforce to me. Nice find.

Amazing find to survive so long, its a good sign there might be more cloth down there still to be found. Keep up the good work, Thanks for sharing.

Hi, 381st digger !
This is not 8th Airforce, but a standard Army Air Force patch.
The 'Mighty Eighth' patch features a winged number eight with the star
positioned in the bottom opening of the '8'.
Still a very nice find !
Regards, Steve.
Very Nice find, I think it is great to find the remains of any cloth after so many years!!

The real deal are getting impossible to find with the Air Corps patch being the rarer.
About 10 years ago my wife's aunt gave me her late husband's A-2 leather jacket which had almost totally rotted.... In the jacket's pocket I found mint cloth AAC and 8th AF patches along with 2 mint 5th and 8th AF bullion patches. These look as good as the day they were made.
I had Flight Suits make me a custom A-2 ( I added slas hand warmer pockets and inside zipper map pockets and had the AAC and 8th AF vintage cloth patches sewn on each shoulder. Looks killer.
Nice find Digger
I know one thing for sure.........I would certainly have NOT found that with my metal detector
Keep up the good work.
